Funny...everyone else I've talked to says the opposite.

It's totally different. The defenses are better. They added playmaker control. It's much tougher. If you're referring to graphics they are the same, however, I think they were pretty good in 2003 version.

If you're looking for something different take a looke at ESPN football.

Did you even play the game? It's totally different. The graphics are 100000x better, the gameplay is better the AI is better... the whole game is better.

when you post this blank with nothing to back up what your saying.....its clear you have just had yur a$$ whooped in the game and came here to vent!

I have played Madden every year for over 10yrs, I can see a BIG difference. The running game, the passing game, the Defense, a HUGE improvement in DB play, Playmaker control, Owner Mode, Build your own stadium....this is just off the top of my head.....I could explain alot deeper too.

You clearly dont know what your talking about, sound like a rookie that gets beat alot to me:)

There is a definite difference bwteen this year and last years version. You're crazy.

I like Madden 04. And there is supposed to be a patch within the next week or 2, along with a roster update.

wrong, i played practice mostly just to get used to the controls. i noticed no difference in the practice mode (ie graphics). i only played a quarter. i exited the game after 1 quarter leading 14-0.

The graphics didn't get much of an update this year, but that's because they basically nailed it with 03 as far as this batch of consoles goes. The PC version is based on the xbox version, and thus didn't get much of a graphical boost beyond some new animations and a nicer play calling screen. There won't be a major update to madden's visual engine until the next gen systems come out in 2 years.

That said, Madden 04 is a huge improvement over 03 in GAMEPLAY. I mean it still looks great, and they greatly improved all of the AI most notably the DB's. The playmaker controls are great and add a lot once you get the hang of it (grab a dual shock and a usb converter for it). Owner mode is also a nice addition, but personally I think it has a lot of room for improvement.

Mini-camp is the same, and probably could have used an overhaul especially because it is now implemented inside franchise mode to earn points for your players at the beginning of the season. That aside the rest of your points are pretty much baseless. If all you did was play a few rounds of minicamp and a quarter of an actual game you are not in a position to criticize a game anyway.

I downloaded the demo and have played about 15 games and have yet to score a point... is the demo extremely difficult or is the game just difficult in general?

shady try tuning difficulty, were you on standard setting? if so its p*ssy sh*t. Try all-madden and see if you can score once in the first quarter.

Madden sucks purely because CPU teams just flat out play better than a player controlled team.

Defensive linemen can't compete with the ROID inject beasts that come about in your second franchise year via player prgression. It's really a shame, offensive linemen progress 3 times faster than D linemen do, yet it's almost impossible to find any decent D linemen in a draft. 9 of 10 players are just to fuggin weak, a O linemen of 90 strength MANHANDLE anyone who dosen't have 80 strength or above. Of course that's not the case for your O linemen, who seem to be at the mercy of the computer.

The game just feels lopsided in way to many ways, and it's plain LAME that the only way a challenge can come about is making your players suck, which is really all that happens as you change the difficulty levels.

It's a great game, but whoever's been working on it is taking the wrong approach to football. Strength is where I'm REALLY feeling the pain, just because a guy is strong dose not make him a good football player, but in madden strength makes or breaks a player.

LAME.

Learn to play Madden....everyone that bitches about the gameplay of the cpu simply dosent know football. Its all in the play calling....turn the game to all pro setting....adjust the sliders a little bit if you feel a part needs to be tweaked.

Try and draft p[layers that give a good interview...they are the most coachable and therefore progress better (dont be to strict here though). Draft for your postion and don plan on the player to really blossom for a few years.

If there as an Olineman that putting the smack down on a d lineman...uhhh....send a blitz at him?.....;) thats what Id do...lol

If you dont KNOW football....playing Madden as a sim will suck for you...its that simple.

I totally agree. The only thing I don't like about Madden 2004 is the random factor. At the begining of every game Madden generates a random number for each player and then inclreases/decreases his attributes by that number. I think the idea is good, but sometimes Madden goes overboard with that. Like, for example, having Tim Carter (the fastest player on the Giants team, and one of the faster overall NFL players) getting run down by a defensive lineman in the open field. Or having your wide receiver drop 5 passes in row, just because he's having a "bad day". I hope they keep this feature in the future releases, but tune it down a little.
