Is it just me or dose playing D in this game really suck?

I like to play as a line backer is the 3-4, which was a TON of fun in Madden 2003. But unfortunately the QB is even better at avoiding sacks this year, and EA/Tiburon added absolutely no way for a player on defense to compensate for the added blocking abilities linemen have now. Linemen know where their ball carrier/qb is at all times!@!@!@!@!@!@!

The problem is that the strafe button is the same button that needs to be pressed to slide off a block, yet once you release that button while getting blocked, you almost always get thrown around or moved left /right. You also can't get off a blocker in the direction you want, as once the game feels you trying to change direction you either loose ALL movment ability you had to get off a block, or jump around flailing your arms like your in slow motion and end up 3 or 4 yards away from where you just were......., still getting blocked.......

Anybody find a way to make defense any fun?, they really ruind the defensive play IMO. You can do the team effort deal, and hold up blockers, but you NEVER get any takles doing that, and to make things worse, the RB has for agility/ability to squeeze through holes that a human player would get slaughtered trying to get through.

DAMN THESE MADDEN FOOTBALL GAMES!!!!!!, THERE IS ALWAYS SOMETHING WORNG WITH PLAYER ABILITIES!!!!!!!!!

That is why I got NCAA 2004 instead. I played the Madden series for years, but the last couple of years' games I didn't like. Not as realistic as they are said to be (is any game?), and I just like to have fun playing rather than getting frustrated at an obvious flaw. Besides, no overpaid whiny drug-dealing, adultering, or murdering players in college football. Well, not quite as many :)

I have yet to play the game ( debating on picking it up, as I'm moving out next week ) but from reading the review at IGN, I thought they said playing D was fun? They said something along the lines of "now it makes you actually look forward to playing Defense." I forget what he was talking about, but I know he said something like that...

Maybe you suck? I think I'm pretty good on D, actually, unless Terrell Owens or Marvin Harrison is left in single coverage, then I'm just screwed.

I had 92 and 93. They were fun, but I never actually exe'd the plays the way the diagram said. Just ran around trying to get the qb or dodge the blitzers (depending on O or D fense)

I'm pretty good with the D.. if you have linemen that are in the mid to high 80s, then being a linebacker is easier. :p
