i tihnk it has something to do with safedisc... YES I BOUGHT the game

i was wondering if there is a place other than megagames, to get a cracked exe. see if that solves my slow load problem :p

thanks

I would recommend contacting EA Sports Support, they tend to solve Safedisc problems really quickly. Good luck.

I would check other proggys running in the background that might be eating up extra memory. Also, check the EA website for patches.

Also, how much system memory do you have and what processor. My system started going a lot faster when I was running Flight Sim 2000 after I added another 256 megs of RAM. I remember when good games could fit on a floppy...sheesh things have changed a lot in 10 years.

I have the same problem with my NHL 2002 disc because it has SafeDisc and I think my Plextor UltraPlex 40x has trouble reading the disc. Even on bootup if the disc is in the drive, it needs to spin the disc up and down a few times to actually recognize the disc properly. I gave up and just never leave the disc in my computer anymore except when I want to play... And now that I have the X-Box version I hardly ever play the PC version.

And yes incase you care I do own both NHL 2002 for the PC and X-Box. I can take pictures if anyone is really that anal about it :)

Anyways, the only solution to this would be a crack for the game that would remove the need CD checks, or getting a different Cd Reader which works better with SafeDisc discs.

Virtual DAEMON CD might help you... You could make an image of the disk, and mount it with that. Legal, by the way :p

Are you running it on Windows 2000 or Windows XP? When I run it on Windows 2000/XP it loads super slow, but when I played it on Windows 98, its super fast. I think this game is made for Windows 98. Most EA games are made for WIndows98/ME, sucks in Windows 2000/XP. i.e NBA Live 2001.

Yep, I used to have this game, and the load times were utterly horrible in XP, but they were fine in 2000 and especially fine in 98. In fact, I dual booted Win98/XP simply so I could play Madden!

BTW, the game also runs a ton smoother in 98. Like somebody already mentioned, EA sports has always had poor Win2000/XP support.

No I ran the game on an AthlonXP/Geforce 3 system, and in Windows XP, the in-game speed was very choppy and far from smooth. It was much better in Windows 2000, but I found it to be fastest in Windows 98.

EA Sports does not make games that are compatible with 2000 or XP. They support 95/95/ME only. You'd think for 40$ a game those Canadians up there could at least program some 2k/XP support (jk bout the canadians part :) ).

yeah, some say 2k supported, but we all know the truth :) Seriously though, I own like 10 EA Sports games and i've never seen one of their games work as well in 2k as they do in 98. Maybe the folks from EA should go over and help a bit (although some EA Games, like Need for speed 5 dont exactly work flawlessly without modifications :|)
