I haven't played Madden game since '04 on the PS2. Except for the Madden '93 which is the greatest Madden IMO, I've been more of NFL 2K guy in the recent years. But I noticed my local Target has Madden '08 for the PS3 on clearance for $15. So is it worth $15? I remember the big controversy about the PS3 vs 360 framerate. Is it that bad or is the game worth picking up?

Skip that and go straight to the 2009 version.

What if he pays $15 for 08 now, then pays $60 for 09 next week just for the new rosters? Do you think that'd be worth it?

Why waste $15, if he's going to get the next Madden release next week?

I'm not buying '09. At least not yet. Maybe in a year when it's under $20. I bought Madden '04 for the PS2 used for $4 around 2006. I don't need to play the latest or the greatest.

Game review sites give Madden '08 for the PS3 good scores, around 8/10 average. But reviews from customers on Amazon and Gamefaqs trash the game. I just wondering if it's worth the $15 discounted price or it's not even worth that.

In that case then I'd buy it.
Certainly better than paying $60 every year for it.

You're a bargain hunter just like me.

Please don't spread your hate for sport games here, you obviously hate their pricing models and you obviously don't play sport games so PLEASE don't give your opinion on a sport game thread, you haven't played Madden 08, you won't play Madden 09 so please don't give blind recommendations to users.

Technically, he said he did play sports games, just that he doesn't buy the new ones every year as the minor yearly improvements don't merit $60. That apparently makes him a "bargain hunter".

Regardless, if you like football games, Madden 08 isn't a bad choice for $15. I'd recommend NCAA 08, though, even if you aren't into college football - it's a better sports game.

PS3 version is a little sketchy compared to the 360 version, and if you're into online play, it will be nonexistent come August 12. But overall I'd say $15 is worth it.

It's not as good as Madden 04 for the PS2, though - I miss the playmaker controls.

Too bad he lacks reading comprehension skills to figure that out.
