I'd say that's a pretty good deal for a combo drive.

Though you can pick up DVD-recordable drives for as little as $30 more. But some people don't care if they can record DVD. I am sure there are those out there with one drive bay and want to watch DVD's and burn CD's for little cash.

This drive is very useful if you already have a dvd burner. It uses the same mediatek chipset as the Liteon 5232K and works great for ripping dvd's and doing Kprobe scans. I get very similar Kprobe scans using this drive to using a 411S. Just make sure you upgrade to the latest >2.0 firmware. My experience is with the black bezel version which is an Artek drive, I am not sure about the beige version.
