Mad Cows, Foot-and-Mouth, Nasdaq, Eletricity, Oil Prices, Lay Offs... is there anything good going on right now?

The Nikkei hit a 16 year low, and is about half of what it was 10 years ago.

The Nasdaq and the Dow seem to heading the same direction with their 3 year lows and half of what it was a year ago for the Nasdaq.

The cattle diseases are forcing countries in every continent to stop buying meat from other countries. And the countries affected are losing quite a bit of dough, including the sovereign country of McDonald's.

OPEC is getting ready to cut oil production this week to raise oil prices, which are already quite high compared to a couple years ago.

The power companies are having a feast on California, and there were some indications that other states could suffer the same fate. Even GW acknowledged that it was national problem.

How many thousands of people have been laid off in the last year alone? How many more have their days counted?

I feel like there is a dark cloud hanging over the world.

Can someone point out any silver linings?

Besides the 760MP that AMD promised for the end of May of course

RAM prices continue to plummet.

CS 1.1 is out.

3Dmark 2001 is out.

My wife is getting less pissed at me everyday. :)

Nor even that Sluggo, SDRAM started to go up last week. Check Tuesday's news here. Maybe things have changed again cause I saw pricewatch still droping, but I read in a couple places that the end of price declines is near.

But I agree that RAM is about the only good thing right now. Thanks.

PS. I'm glad for you about your wife. Maybe she should give mine a call..

the economy isn't dead, unemployment is still pretty damn low. The nasdaq is actually down over 65% from its high. A lot of that is over compensation for the huge runup that was unjustified. It'll probably be in the 3000s by end of year where it should be if it werent for the dot coms.

I'm still majoring in compsci with no dot com jobs being handed out left and right :( But thats ok because i like ASM.

There is always a bright side. At least the market is devalued. Most P/E ratios are in the teens, which is a good thing. means we can have another ride up.

Medical science continues to cure stuff. Hopefully they will figure out how to make food out of air so we can feed everyone soon.

Take a walk in the wilderness. If you look carefully, you'll see exactly the same world that existed when Christ was among us. Good and evil, what are they? Out in the wild you'll see you brought them with you. If they exist in your mind perhaps they can also cease to exist there too. Oh my Beloved, wherever I look it appears to be Thou.

its kinda difficult to see what christ "saw," since he was in the middle east and 99.99% are not there right now.
