This is a great deal for Parallels and the way that I have purchased my last several copies of Parallels (been using since Parallels 4). Normal price for Parallels is $80. The only other app that looks really useful (to me) is DiskAid. The rest are mostly toys. Prizmo might be nice, and the DevonThink thing looks like it could be useful but probably requires a learning curve. Fonts, meh. And you couldn't pay me to install the "Internet Security" app.

great deal shared this with my coworkers the other day. Price gets you Parallels cheap, extra software is YMMV

Well, that was odd. I finally got around to buying it, and I only paid $35 for it. It said $50 everywhere, but when I finally got it in the cart (or whatever their purchasing metaphor is) then it said $35. Maybe because I'm a previous buyer? Some sort of upgrade discount since I already own Parallels 7, purchased from a previous MacUpdate Promo? Who knows?

Devonthink is good if you're into that type of software. iStat Menus is really good. This is probably the best way to get Parallels. Just be prepared for a new version to be released soon with a terrible upgrade cost that causes support to end on your current version.

More than likely they gave you the upgrade price at a discount.

I don't think we'll see a new version of Parallels before we see a new version of OSX or Windows. They seem to update with each OSX iteration; it gives them a good excuse to update Parallels and sell a new round of upgrades. I suppose we could see a new OSX this summer. Lion and Mountain Lion were July 2011 and July 2012, respectively. But it was nearly 2 years between Snow Leopard and Lion.

This ends in 4 hours. Buy now or wait another year to get Parallels at this price.

I tried Prizmo for a project here at work. It worked pretty well. I don't know of it's typical of OCR programs, but it's got a neat feature where you can select specific areas that it scans, and it leaves the rest of the page alone. My project required data entry from a printed spreadsheet of several pages (we did not have access to the original Excel files). We only wanted the info from 2 columns out of 8. I was able to select those columns in Prizmo and OCR them, then match up the rows when pasting from the text file into Excel. All that was required was a bit of clean-up work/double-checking instead of manual entry of several hundred lines' worth of data. Saved a few hours of labor.
