Could it be possible? Consider if this type of environmental pressure (hostile environment and predators) is sustained over time, would the results would turn squirrels from solitary creatures to a more social one in behavior and function (eg. Hyenas hunting in packs, ant colonies.) Over course of time would this have an impact on the species DNA?
