Just curious about a question.

Our IT dept. here where I work says that Entourage 2004 doesn't support "public folders", so I was wondering if anyone here has experience with Entourage 2004 (and can elaborate on the problem), or if you know if it will be added in Entourage 2008? I can't seem to find any information about it online.

Thanks!

With Entourage open:

Click Entourage on the menu bar
Account settings
double-click your exchange account
click the advanced tab

First field is for Public Folders. Put in the DNS name of your exchange server. You do not need to do a /pubic or even a http://. just put in the name. For example:

exchangeserver.companyname.local

NOT

http://exchangeserver.companyname.local/public

Directory Settings for GAL lookups are on the same page. I'm assuming that if your IT department doesn't know where to put the public folder information in to Entourage, they don't know where to put the information for GAL lookups.

Same format applies for it. Just put the DNS name of your GC server:

domaincontroller.company.local

Then check the box for require to log on and it will use your mail credentials to log on to the DC and auto-complete names in your company when you're writing an email and allow you to browse the GAL through the address book tab.

I'm running Entourage 2008 now. It's pretty bad. It's basically Entourage 2004 with a slight face lift. It adds the ability to do your out of office but other than that its still a pretty poor exchange client. Office 2008 as a whole looks like it shaping up to be a non-event on the Mac side.

Gotcha, well maybe I'll just stick with the Windows version until they shape up. Who knows when/if that will ever happen. I did manage to get a hold of the Office 2008 beta, so I might have to give it a shot when I get home.

Thanks for the info!
