I've been offered a very good deal on a pair of Mackie MR8 speakers. I would love to "have them", but I don't need them. Plus, there are no easily assessable volume and tone control. Does anyone else use these speakers and is there a desktop module that can control volume and tone control (separate bass/treble preferred) that can be inexpensively purchased? I don't want a full blown mixer, just manual knobs instead of having to control them through the pc. It looks like it has RCA inputs so the breakout box would have to have that as well.

why would you mess with an active monitor with tone control?

Also, where are you going to be? These are near field monitors, so if you are not at your computer, they may not sound all that great.

They would be used as pc speakers. I just hate using the pc to control volume and tone control. Do you know of any inline controls that would work with these speakers in this application?

Studio monitors are built to be as neutral as possible but you want to mess with the tones?

You need a mixer. I would just use a good mixing program. You know the pros use the computer to shape the sound right?
