Hi. I got Yamaha 5.1 Receiver setup with SEXY but old Yamaha NS-6490 3-Way Bookshelf Speakers, some custom L+R speakers and Energy 300w Sub.
Sound is good but Yamaha 8" woofer's resin is old and almost teared. Recently got Mackie MR8 Studio monitors with blown tweeters but woofers are good. I removed back cover from Mackie and tell you the truth i never seen that kind of big transformers and parts inside, Yamaha got almost nothing but it's really SEXY :) .

So What to do: keep SEXY Yamaha and replace woofers from Mackie or keep Mackie and fix tweeters for better sound?
Bad thing is Mackie speakers are both powered and i'm worry it will require lot of power.
Thanks.

You want to remove the woofers from the Mackies and use them in the Yamahas?
You would have to compare the specs of both to even get a remote idea about how that would sound - it likely would be a poor match and not sound good.

All that "stuff" inside the Mackies is the amplifiers. you don't power them from the speaker outputs of an amplifier, they have their own amplifiers built in.

Just replace the tweeter. If you don't like them after they're fixed then sell them for more then you paid now that they are. The part number for the tweeter is 0030616. You don't want to mix and max speakers on passive networks when they weren't designed together initially.

Im going with you dont know enough about speakers to take them apart and fix them if you cant even figure out that the mackie set is powered and the yamaha isnt.

Also, as mentioned above, you need to match the specs of the tweeters/woofers you cant just put any woofer into any speaker and expect it to sound good without modification to either the enclosure or the crossover or both.

You're talking about whether repaired $100 home theatre-in-a-box speakers will sound better than repaired $600 studio monitors.

What do you think????????

Also many amplifiers don't supply volume control on their line out connections (where you will be connecting your Mackies). If that's the case, every time you change the system volume you'll have to re-balance the volume control settings on the back of each Mackie to match the other speakers.

powered monitors do not require speaker cables. You plug in a set of RCA cables from the amp out or source out.
