Machine won't turn on... i5 760, UD3

Hello all, I wish I were posting under better circumstances, but my gift won't turn on...

This is the build

Antec 300 430BP

i5 760

Gigabyte UD3

9800GTX

1TB Samsung

I've hooked up the F_Panel correctly to the case. I'm thinking it's either the PSU or the Motherboard at this point. No turning on and off, no LED on the Mobo, nothing. I do have a 550W PSU or even a 400W one from a crap OEM rig. I haven't gotten around to it yet. I doubt it's the HDD or GPU. It might be the buttons on the case... I know it's not likely for those to be bad because there is no life in it at all. What do you guys think...?

Ok, now it turns on but it only turns on and off in about 1 second intervals. I have reseated the CPU fan with no success. The same thing still happens. I have the CPU Fan hooked up, and from the PSU I have the Motherboard and a fan hooked up. Will a machine not post without a GPU plugged in? It seems kind of funny that the CPU would be bad, and it didn't seem possible to "bend the pins" as there were none found on the bottom, only copper contacts. I've only been hands on with an AMD processor, so I am not familiar with Intel's socket design. It seemed to go in fine aside from the socket being a little on the difficult side to close. Right now I'm hooking everything up to see if anything I had unplugged prevented it from posting.

Just a little update, when I plug in all the components without the GPU, it turns on and off. When the GPU is plugged in, it's nothing, no power what so ever. Maybe the PSU isn't enough? The 9800 GTX is from one of the original batches, so it's an epic power hog. I'm also going through a 2 4-pin to 6 pin adapter, so that could be an issue...

Yes, c'mon David, you've told us a Christmas story but left off the ending! So what happened, & did they all live happily ever after? 😉

I'm betting he didn't plug in the ATX12V! That would be embarrassing enough to want the mods to delete the thread. 😉 :awe:

That was it... <_<... lol. Here I was all worried about RMAing stuff... GAH! 😛

EDIT: prolly will get a different PSU eventually though. I have a double fan adapter to 6 pin powering the vid card. I can't imagine that's too good for it...

Its fine. The two Molex connectors can handle the current.
