Machine wont shut down with 98SE

I am running 98se on a p3 1ghz with a Asus CUSL2-c MB and when it goes to shut down it hungs up in the "Shutting down windows" screen....anyone know this problem?
 
Have you tried the Windows Update on your start menu. Go then to Product Updates. Read down the list for a "file update to fix the close-down"......
