Machine won't fire

Machine has been working seemlessly for the past 10 months, then all of the sudden yesterday the machine wouldn't fire. Swapped out Power Supplies and still no fire. What does occur is that it appears the network connection is getting power because the LED is lit. The processor fan does about 2 revolutions and stops. HD and DVD never get spinning and I never even make it to the Bios. Am I correct in assuming by the above that the fat power connection to the HD, processor and DVD is fried. Is there other test I can run to make sure the MB is not fried?

Thanks,
DirtyP

Is the second power supply a known, reputable, good-quality unit with ample wattage for the load? If so, the next thing I would try is to pull the motherboard out of the case, lay it on cardboard, and threaten it. Then deprive it of all non-essential items: no keyboard, no mouse, no PCI cards, only one memory module, no extra case wiring except the power-switch wire. Like in the photos on this page.

If it will not stir under those conditions, take out each of these items singly and try powering it up with each of them missing: CPU itself, video card, memory module. If none of the three proves to be the culprit, try powering up the board with none of them at all. If the PSU fan won't start and stay started, then you probably have a dead motherboard at the minimum.

Thank for the help MechBgon. I will give the scenerio a whirl and see what happens. And yes the replacement PS is an Antec.

MechBgon, yeah I think this one is heading back to MSI. A shame being that it wasn't too bad of a board. I went through all the scenerios and not one would fire. Maybe it is time to fire up a Soltek again.

English might not be his first language...

If I remember correctly, the word in Spanish for "turn on" (as in an electrical device) is the same one as "to set on fire"...

If that's the case then I apologize. But I think it's more a case of using a "cool" word in place of the correct one. Like people calling their computer's "rigs".
