I use XP Pro SP2. The rest of my machine is:

A64 3700+
1GB GeIL DDR400
Gainward 6800GT Golden Sample
ASROCK Dual-SATA2 motherboard

This started when I tried to install the 93.71 nvidia drivers today. I installed them, restarted, then when it was getting to the part after windows says "loading your personal settings" and it shows the desktop it stayed there. It doesn't load the taskbar, all that shows is the desktop background and a mouse cursor, which moves. None of the system keyboard shortcuts work (no ctrl-alt-del, no ctrl-esc), right clicking the mouse does not bring up a menu.

The sequence of events that led up to this:

Installed the stable version of drivers before these, couldn't load the nvidia control panel but everything else worked. Installed the 92.91 beta drivers, seemed to work, installed these 93.71 drivers to try and make NFS carbon work and it stopped loading windows properly.

The system does load up in safe mode. I have tried uninstalling the 93.71 drivers and loading in normal mode (using default windows drivers) but the same problem occurs. I have tried installing the 92.91 modified drivers from ngohq.com but the same problem still occurs. I've also tried uninstalling the 92.91 modified drivers and installing the 93.71 drivers and it still happens.

Unfortunately (and foolishly) system restore was not enabled.

Can anyone assist me please?
