MacGyver...he could take a paperclip, a stick of gum, and some string, and make an atom bomb from it.

Peter: (writing a letter): Dear MacGyver, Enclosed is a rubber band, a paperclip, and a drinking straw. Please save my dog.

We all know what happens next :p

look, i'm sorry. SG-1 is a great show. Decent amount of originality and all but Richard Dean Anderson has got to be the worst pick for O'Neill. From the movie, O'Neill was like a tight-ass military man. The O'Neill in the show has about as much leadership abilities as my @$$. He just sits there making stupid faces like he's bored all the time. A friend of mine was saying that it'd be annoying to have an uptight military guy in every episode but I definitely think they could've cast someone who fit the role better.

I prefer SG-1 over MacGyber, I think the writing is just much better (for the most part). I think Richard Dean Anderson works well as O'Neill, sure he doesn't have the stick up the ass look as in the movie version of O'Neill. If, though, they kept with that personality I think the show would have totally died.

Naa, RDA was the perfect pick. O'Neill is a guy who got sent to do a dirty job in the first place, and got dragged out of retirement to effectively babysit a hippie and unfairly smart/hot USAF scientist, only to be outshined by a big black guy not even from this planet. He can't very well quit since they need him, so he's living it up cracking jokes while keeping everyone alive.

I just finally got around to watching that episode tonight and now I see why it's ranked #1; it's fuggin' hillarious.:D

Jack: (hitting golfballs through the Stargate) How far is Alaris, anyway?
Teal'c: Several billion miles, O'Neill.
Jack: That's gotta be a record.

Hammond: Colonel O'Neill! What the hell are you doing?!?
Jack: (interrupting his golf shot) In the middle of my backswing?!?

I love SG-1 and RDA as Jack O'Neil
Probably my favorite show.

I am almost to young to remember MacGyver...I remember watching one episode and he went back in time or something and hung out with Merlin.

MacGyver. Not only is he a super-spy, but he's a social worker too!

RDA is the reason Stargate SG-1 is where it is today. Without him the show wouldn't be nearly as popular.... or funny.
