MacFarlane thinking about ending Family Guy

I stress thinking, because there are no plans to wrap up yet.

Family Guy creator Seth MacFarlane has admitted that he thinks the popular US cartoon should have ended by now.
The 37-year-old told The Hollywood Reporter that the show, which has just finished its 10th series, has been running for too long.
"Part of me thinks that Family Guy should have already ended. I think seven seasons is about right," he said.
The surreal show follows the Griffin family, including Dad Peter, which MacFarlane provides the voice for.
"I talk to the fans and in a way I'm kind of secretly hoping for them to say we're done with it," he said.
"There are plenty of people who say the show is kind of over the hill, but still the vast majority go pale in the face when I mention the possibility."
The writer, who is also responsible for other US cartoons including American Dad and The Cleveland Show, said he would prefer to end the show and release a film every few years.
There is a deal in place for a Family Guy movie, which MacFarlane is reported to be writing along with series co-producer Ricky Blitt.
He is also set to bring back a revamped version of 1960s Hanna-Barbera cartoon The Flintstones.
When he made the announcement in May, MacFarlane revealed Fred Flintstone had been "the very first cartoon character I drew at age two".

Thoughts?

This might not be a popular opinion but as family guy has gone downhill I think american dad has been getting better. The episode a few weeks ago with the hot tub and cee lo green was really great.

The first few seasons were fantastic. I can't remember even bothering to watch more than 1 or 2 episodes the last few seasons so I say let it go.

I kinda agree. While it has its moments it is nowhere near as funny as the early episodes. I'm actually surprised he understands that the show may be played out though, unlike everyone involved in the simpsons apparently.

Over the hill simply because most shows at its 7-9th season get REALLY OLD no matter how hard you try.

I was also glad to hear House is on its last season.

HIMYM is killing it right now. House definitely fell off the deep end.

Please do! There was about 15 or so good episodes but the rest are really bad.

American Dad on the other hand is good more than not. This season has been pretty far out there, though.

I love the show, but there comes a time when you just have to let it go. I will still be saddened when it does get cancelled/ended, but it's had a great run and we will always have re-runs.

it's still amusing at times. better than most shows, but that doesn't say much.

the better option would be to kill all his other shitty shows.

I used to love this show but I think as I grew up I grew out of it. I dont really care for it anymore.

Family guy isn't a unique show but had it's own character in the early seasons. When they revived it, I always got the feeling it was trying to be too much like the Simpsons and South Park.

I agree with the hate for Bob's Burgers. Kill it with fire!

I actually completely agree. It's similar to The Simpsons and Futurama imo. Futurama's writing quality blows The Simpsons out of the water. If it wasn't for the art style you'd almost never guess they were mostly written by the same people.
