Macbook pro runs hot as hell

I just got a MBP spec are:
10.6.4
2.4 Ghz i5
4gb DDR3

And it's hot all the time and fan is on all the time. I can't even sat it on lap it burns. My last MBP was aluminum and fan never came on and it stayed very cool.

Activity monitor show FireFox 20% and that's basically it! All other tasks are 1% or less.

Any help before I call Apple is appreciated.

Sounds like a faulty fan or something. It shouldn't be running that hot. My older C2D system would get hot but only if you were running intensive apps like Photoshop/Aperture, etc...

I would definitely take it in, or call AppleCare.

I have a 13" MBP that I've never heard the fan on.

I have a co-worker that has the same exact model that we both got purchased for us through work on the same day. His fan runs loud, his battery runs down quickly and it gets hot also.

He rebuilt it a few weeks ago and it cleared it all up.

Seems something was just jacked up on the OS causing it but we both never pinpointed exactly what.

Yep I've found my 13"MBP to run a little hot. I just figured it was because it was so thin but then again it heats up just by using Google Chrome...

What are you doing in FireFox?

Is the discrete gpu kicking in?

I have an i7 and it barely gets warm to the touch.
