Macbook Pro Battery

I've had my MBP since early August 2007, so coming up on 14 months now. iStat Pro says that my battery has only gone through 136 cycles but the health is down to only 23%!

I usually use my MBP plugged into an outlet on my desk, but there are some days when I want to go outside and use it without being tethered to an outlet. It only lasts me about 30-40 minutes (and sometimes, it even shuts down when the battery meter is at 60%).

Any tips? I was thinking of just getting a TruePower extended life battery since I've heard good things about them, but I'd like to see if I can get this fixed before putting down $100+ for one.

I bought mine the same month you did and was experiencing the same problem. I went from 5+ hours of battery life (WiFi off) to 30 minutes or so within the span of a month. I brought it to an Apple store yesterday, and after looking at my battery health in system profiler, they replaced it for free. Call Apple and plead your case on the phone. They just might send you a new one.

Called Apple, pleaded my case, and their solution?

Buy a new one from them for $130. Eff that, I'll get a higher capacity Truepower one for $30 less.
