MacBook/ MacBook Pro

Hi, I am new to this forum.
I am considering buying the Macbook or the MacBook Pro but need to know more about them first. I will mainly be using the MacBook/MacBook Pro for instant messaging, checking emails, browsing the internet, etc. My budget is around $1700.
I want to get some suggestions and comments from people who have experience with them. Thanks.

I'd say get a MacBook instead of the MacBookPro if you're not going to be playing games or doing anything that would require heavy use of the GPU. If you want the bigger screen or want to play games, then the MacBookPro would be the better choice. Get at least 1GB of RAM in the MacBook too (MBP comes with 1GB). OSX is a memory hog, but 1GB seems to be the sweet-spot.

get the macbook, i have one, and its absolutley perfect. small, light, fast, and pretty 🙂. its really the perfect laptop for what i need. only thing it doesnt not live up for is gaming, but thats not something that bothers me the slightest.

I think the only think that bothers me is the screen being too small, it's 13.3 in. I am used to a 15 in. laptop monitor so the 13.3 in. looks a little too small, but maybe I will get used to it.

Having tried a MacBook, the 1280x800 resolution works well at 13.3" (it helps that OS X's UI fonts are easier to read than in Windows). A compact size also encourages you to take the notebook with you instead of worrying about the bulk.
