Hey guys. My friend's son spilled milk on his macbook pro. He went to apple and they offered to fix it for $700. I was wondering if there are any reputable companies out there that can fix it for a much more manageable price. I don't know much about it, other than it is a unibody macbook pro 13" model. From what I have searched around the web, a lot of people fix broken screens and stuff, but didn't see much for internals. Any help would be appreciated, otherwise it gets put in the dumpster out back.

Some of the 3rd party repair shops will repair it for cheaper, but to really be cheap they need to use used parts. Unfortunately, those used parts aren't always easily available.

Personally, I would take it in and see what they say, and if it's too expensive, then look to see if they sell used computers with warranty. Unfortunately, MacBook Pros cost a lot in the used market in general.

Another alternative is an Apple refurb, but that will be even more money.
