MacBook Air (mid 2011) to HDMI

Hoping this is a simple question, but I'd like to output my MBA to my HT system. I realize I need to get a thunderbolt to HDMI adapter, but will this provide Dolby Digital/DTS from a MKV file? I encode all of my MKVs w/ either DD 3/2 +1 or DTS audio stream (or both if both are present). I use MakeMKV if anyone is wondering.

Thanks.

If your playback software supports it, and your TV/receiver accepts it, then I don't see why not.

It doesn't have to be a thunderbolt adapter, you can also use a MiniDisplayPort-HDMI adapter. The Air supports Audio over mDP/TB (the first couple of Macs with MiniDP didn't) so you're good there.
