So my highschool teacher has an old mac and she is seeing how it's starting to get pretty old and she wants to get a pc.

I told her to get a dell or something to that effect as she doesn't need a custom built system to do grades and e-mail stuff. I am not sure .. she might be getting a laptop or a desktop but I was wondering how and what files would she be able to trasnfer from her to her new pc if any at all.

Any help is greatly appreciated!

You should be able to transfer most things. Add up what you want to transfer and see how much space it takes up. What kind of drives does the Mac have? CD-R?

In principle every file can get transfered. Because macs use another file system (HFS+), some metadata may get lost in the process (custom icons and such things). For further details look here.

Thanks guys. Not sure how much data she has but CD-R might be a good option! I am not sure though she has a CD burner on the mac. I have an external hard drive so that would work I think. I still have no answer from her if she wants a desktop or a laptop.
