Mac OS X running on a P4 - Brilliant strategic maneuver

I don't really follow the Mac scene too much. The last Mac I owned was a IIc+, I think. Anyway, I just read an article that suggests that the move for Apple from Motorola to Intel/AMD cpu's is not a real teachnical challenge, and they could release a pre-built certified system(s) that would enable them to avoid having to support the "generic" PC. Since Macs are always sold ata price premium to PCs (they still are, right?) then I think it would be a brilliant move for Apple to release a new line of Macs running an optimized OS X with SEE2 support. The systems would go from slow-as-mollases G4's to super-powered monsters. Why do you think about that?
