I haven't seen this topic recently. I was just wondering because people were having a big debate over it.

U should ask this in the Operating Systems Forum.

I do believe that's the first time I've referred someone there.

I meant the flamefests over which OS is better.

Where's the both option. I use both, and I have no problem w/ either.

My main problem with Apple is the inflated price of their computers since they don't let other vendors sell clones, or let you buy components and build it yourself.

Also the hardware compability and gaming(many options/games to choose from unlike Mac OS X) in Windows XP is much better IMO.

Currently on a PC... But I'm planning on getting a Powerbook as my next computer.

That too. Until 99% of mainstream games have Mac versions I wouldn't consider one.

OSX, but sadly most software does not run on it.
XP for games and such.

edit: I'm betting people voting XP haven't touched OSX or haven't use it as their main rig.

another vote for PC. I would never pay the hefty price for a Mac, no matter how much "style" they have.

I think the question is purely from an OS standpoint. What if OSX ran on a x86 machine?

I would like to try OS X, but I'm not going to spend the rediculous amounts that a Mac costs. They need to get costs down to PC levels, and get the larger software publishers to make Mac versions of all of their software.

Still probably not just because of the compatibility issues. I might duel boot just to see how it runs though.

As soon as I can fill the needs of my unnaturally addictive habit to CS:Source on a Mac, I'll switch. As soon as I can play through the marvelousness (is this a word?) that was Far Cry and HL2 on a Mac, I'll switch.

I'm a gamer. Nuff said.

And please, don't give me the BSOD or crash argument. If I were tweaking my OC'ing speeds on my processor, or Video Card or something, yea Windows crashes. Otherwise, I've pretty much never had Windows XP crash. I don't care if you believe me or not, but OSX crashes more often then Win XP does, which was once. For no reason, I had to shut the computer down and restart. Certain applications may crash in XP, but it never brings down the system with it. Explorer will crash for no reason. But then again, I know what I'm doing which is obviously the minority.

PC's are superior in every way, an argument can be made that OSX is a better OS, but until the OS is the most important thing to me, I'll never buy another Mac. I don't know what I was thinking when I bought the TiBook I did for school. Luckily, I sold it for almost as much as I bought it for. Resale value on those things is awesome.

Oh man.... if OSx ran on x86 this would be a no-brainer! X is a far superior OS, if you are basing this strictly on the os, and not what games are out for the platform, etc.

I got a mini because all I used my desktop for was photo editing and I was tired of XP being a PITA. It turns out that if it's a task that I can do on either system like surfing the web, AIM, or photoshop, I really prefer the mac. My laptop used to be the most used system I had, but now I think it's the mini. Funny thing is that this time a year ago I was making fun of the mac fanboys at work and now I am turning into one myself!
