After you get Tiger installed, boot from the Leopard upgrade disc and at some point early on in the installation process, there should be some options, erase and install should be available. Once the disc sees Tiger installed, it will let you erase the drive and clear it off, then perform a clean install. At least that is the way it has worked in the past. So it is a little messed up, you have to install Tiger just so the upgrade disc can see it, then it erases it again.
