Mac OS X... Do shared folders keep view preferences?

I don't use Macs much, except at work... and every time I open up folders on the network server, they are in different sizes / locations / views than the last time I used them. This makes me wonder... Do folders that are networked on Macs save their sizes / locations / views that other people use, and then open in that way on my machine? I know that sounds really stupid, but there are so many other funky little things going on with this OS, I wouldn't be surprised!
