Mac ORB drive problems: euSCSI Bridge ver 1.11 not found

I have been trying to get this thing to work but it keeps on saying, at startup, the usb device "euSCSI Bridge ver 1.11" was not found
am I missing something?
my best guess is that there is a problem because the drive has an SCSI connector but the computer only has usb, but a cable that connects the SCSI to a usb port is causing a problem somehow... do I need something installed to do this?

It is on a Mac blue G3 with os 8.5.1.

BTW, I have no idea what the problem is. In fact I didn't even know there were SCSI to USB adapters!
