First off, havent posted here in the mac forums ever and would gladly appreciate your opinions.

I am looking for an iMac for my 16 year old daughter.

Was being offered 2 systems.

1. Older 21.5 inch core 2 duo 3.06 for $1050...Its a floor model and they are offering a 3 year guarantee worth $249 no extra cost.

or

2. Newer and brand new in box 21.5 inch i3 for about $1300 plus another $249 for warranty, so basically paying $ 1550 total.

What it comes down to is im paying an extra $500 for a brand new in box imac, but does come with a newer/faster procesor and video. Is the speed difference that much different?

Whats your experience when it comes to floor models?? Anything I should be looking out for??

Thanks and best regards.

I think you'll be perfectly fine with the C2D machine. A 3Ghz processor is nothing to scoff at. Plus you'll get the 3 year warranty which should cover anything that would go wrong with not having a new model.

With the iMac you have to look at the video card difference. If it's no problem for you then go with the first option.
