Mac Memory in a Dell Server?

Hi,

I was wondering if anyone knows if mac branded/compatible server memory will work in a dell/pc server. I bought some fbdimm ddr2 on ebay and didn't realize it was "apple memory." All the specs are the same except it has these huge heatspreaders on it.

Any help would be appreciated

Thanks

Hard to tell. Toss it in (if it fits that is) and see if it recognizes it. If it doesn't, just take it back out.

yah the ram is

fbdimm ddr2 pc6400 ecc 2gb ram

the server is a poweredge 2900 which accepts 667mhz ram, though i'm pretty sure the 800mhz is ok and it will just run at a slower speed

the only thing that worries me is the pictures show pretty large heat spreaders on the ram

its 240 pin memory; i guess i wonder if i can just pull the heatspreaders off.

From what i have seen posted over the years heatspreaders do nothing to help with ram cooling they just look cool. And i agree with the above, only way to find out is to try it.
