mac firewire on xp

Hey,
got a situation where i got a firewire / usb2 drive connected to the system.
friend came over with a max os 9 firewire lacie drive.
hooked it up
the system saw it and promptly wanted to format the drive.

is there anything that will let XP see a mac formated firewire drive.


note(i thought the entire point of firewire is that it would be cross platform!!)

Firewire is cross platform (It detected the drive, didn't it?). File systems aren't, espically when we're talking about windows.
