Originally had one of those in-case neoprene rubbery ones (bought off the shelf at the Apple store), then I switch to those (foam?) ones from Macessity:

I'm not sure which one protects better, TBH, but the Macessity one is more form fitting and accessible with zippers that go around.
As long as carrying case wise, I use a laptop messenger bag and a laptop backpack interchangeably from Tumi.

I got the "Black Suit" one. I'm telling you these are the best cases you are gonna find if you want a sleeve. I did 2+ months of research. That neoprene stuff is worthless and things like foof bags will static discharge into your USB ports and fry the enclosure. This is the best padding + slimness for the $, IMHO.

I couple this with a padded Jansport backpack when I really need protection, otherwise I just carry this. it also doubles as a mat for dirty tables in coffee shops :p

foofbag.com or .com.au or something, a company from australia - made with materials that could cuase static discharge but they look cool.

i don't have a mbp but really like my bag from protege sport. it is a messenger style bag with some pockets and stuff, and came with a sleeve for a laptop. I am sure they make one that fits the mbp.
