OH! When I think of the promises of "SECURITY" I got for XP and then the problems that turned up. Micro Crap Will HAVE to beta test Vista for ten years before I will trust it.

EDIT I am on a rant, got a qoute on upgrades.

Uh, OSx isn't still a beta program like Vista, even tho Vista has been released retail?

You'll have driver issues with Vista, whereas you'll only have driver issues with OSx if you pirate it.

When you start calling them Micro Crap, all your credibility goes out the window.

Not necessairly, and certainly not on here. Most people's gaming rigs can handle Vista no problem.

Troll.

Let me give you another opinion. I was in the same boat as you, wanted to upgrade b/c my laptop was old. Given the fact that I had to get new hardware, and the fact that apple hardware seems to run Windows XP faster than equivalent PC laptops, it was almost a no brainer for me. Plus you get all the perks of OS X, which is really far far ahead of its time (if you're calibrated to Microsoft's clock).

Look at it this way, any new macbook or macbook pro will run Vista (if you really wanted to), but XP is really all you need for any windows programs you're afraid of losing. Buy an apple, you'll get the best of both worlds. Plus, Apple has been keeping Leopard specs under careful lock and key so that Microsoft wouldn't be able to implement anything they see in Vista. Leopard will be awesome, just wait.

Oh, I forgot to mention, $400 for an OS (Vista Ultimate)? versus $120 for and OS (Tiger or Leopard)? Why the heck is Vista $400?

OSX is cheaper because Apple is also a hardware company. Even after the chunk of the margin off of their expensive hardware that goes to the OS software division, they're still making a pretty penny.

OSX just plain works. You don't have to deal with all the interoperability problems of Windows.
But then again, those "interoperability problems" from Windows also indicate why Windows is so popular: because it works with *everything*. Windows is also far more capable in the workplace, both because of built-in OS features and the software made to run on it.

Disclaimer: desktop PC is Windows XP (will be upgrading to Vista within a month or two), future plans call for a Macbook for college.

1. Troll
2. Learn to write. I mean, seriously, it is hard to understand what you're really trolling about. In which case, it could be a really good troll in disguise ;)

It's $400 for the full Ultimate edition. I personally got Vista Business for free (power together promotion) and Vista Home Premium for $70 (sometimes it pays to be a student).

We all would be using Mac's if they didn't cost so damn much money and of course they had gaming.

Saying that Vista costs $400 is like saying Vista is free because of the Microsoft promotion a couple months ago. Vista Ultimate is not for the general public and if your saying Leopard is $120, that's an upgrade price. Stop fudging numbers. Vista costs $160 or it comes with your Dell.
