I want to put, on my desktop, an alias to my "username" folder. I am running 10.5. How do I do this? I don't see any options in the right click menu.

I guess that there is a problem because this folder contains my desktop folder?

Why not just click on the Finder in the dock? You can tell it to have that as teh default window that opens.

I believe the default action for clicking the finder icon is to open your home folder.

If you really want a desktop icon, you can open the macintosh hd, and go to users. Then ctrl+click (or right click) your username and choose 'make alias'. Then move the alias to your desktop.

he might use it as a default for something else tho, like apps.

stacks.. bleh.. it should be called just grid. I don't find the value in toppling list.

But back to the point, he could be like me.. I hide my dock, and having quick desktop access is nice w/o having to go down to the bottom of the screen. Altho, I'd argue we trump all this using quicksilver :)

You're right.

I'd prefer to have an alias on my desktop, as opposed to using the dock.

So, it looks like there is no way to do this in Leopard?

Well, there was the right click, and make alias. Then move that copy to where ever you want.

Or hold down option+command and drag. should get a little arrow.

These options do not work on the "username" folder. I have tried and tried.
