i have an Apple Laser Writer 600 printer. with a biult-in NIC.
i cant seem to find a way to communicate with it. to drag config. report for example.
does anybody know how to specify the MAC address for it. i cant find a way
thanks

I'm not sure if it's the same for a mac laser printer but for HP printers you can normally print out a diognostic page that will have the IP address of what the printer is set to. Usually to print it out you have to hold down a button, such as the power button.

I hope that helps.

i wanted to try that, but the problem is that printer doesnt have but a power swithch and a coupla LEDs
there has to some other way. any suggestions??????

I'm sure there is a utility out there that let's you discover what IP's are on your network.

Was this a new printer?

Someone correct me if I am wrong, but I believe the LaserWriter 600 uses AppleTalk protocol.

well, it is an old one. i dint know the manufacturing year exactly, but i think its around 1992.
and regarding AppleTalk, i knew MAC PCs that used AppleTalk but still have resolvable IP addresses in my corporate network

I know, it's called TCP/IP over AppleTalk.
