Mac Address Book Overwrite Google Contacts?

Is there a way to make Mac Address Book overwrite (not sync) Google Contacts when they "synced" via the Preference setting in Mac Address Book?

I couldn't get it to do it consistently.. what I had to do was delete EVERYTHING in my Google Address Book and then re-sync. Since then I haven't had any issues.

in gmail go to contacts. select 'all contacts', hit 'all' next to select, hit 'delete contacts'
