mac 2 windows and windows 2 mac

I am trying to use an external hard drive between my mac and my windows based pc. the hard drive is a maxtor oneTouch II. is there anyway to format the HD for both systems. I started the HD on my PC. I am able to add and remove files just fine on the PC. On the Mac, I can only drag files from the HD, but can not add files to the HD or delete them from the HD.

pretty sure Mac can read and write FAT 32, but can only read NTFS - did you format NTFS?

i am not sure. i used it on the pc first. so it probably installed it with windows default settings. whatever they are.

on windows check the disk properties and it will tell you whether it is FAT32 or NTFS. You would need to reformat it as FAT32, but wait until somebody confirms that Mac can read and write FAT32 formatted disks - I am working from memory while at work.
