Exactly how good is a Maaco "embassador paint service"? There's a vehicle that needs a paint job yet I don't want to spend $1500 on it. Any experience?

Sometimes it is decent, sometimes it is not. Do not expect anything besides the outside of the car to be painted. Door jams will not be painted.

They did a decent job on my 1960 Triumph TR3, but they butchered my sisters 1962 TR4.

I have an old blazer painted. It was ok. Nothing great and they don't put any effort into smoothing anything out before they paint it. It was worth the amount of money I paid.

Orange peel, somewhat uneven, a few runs, anything you don't tape off (key holes, mufflers, gas tanks, etc) might get shot, no real prep work behind it so do as much prep on your own as you can. If you want your crappy car to look somewhat less crappy for like 5 years go for it.

My dad and a couple other people mentioned going to one local Maaco over another local one. They said the work was MUCH better from one than the other. They raved about the $300.00 paint job on my brother-in-law's car. After seeing that work, all I can say is, I'd hate to see the quality of that other Maaco! :Q

from the cars I've seen with Maaco paint jobs, I would have to agree with Soybomb

park it in a bad neighborhood, have the paint scratched up, and claim it under vadalizm.

thats under comprehensive coverage. no raise in insurance. it happened to me twice with the same car in a period of 5 years.

rates actually dropped each time i filed a claim

None available at the moment, but as soon as I am back in Houston at my parents house where they are stored I'll take some. The paint job on my sisters was so bad that we already stripped it off.
