M7NCD PRO vs 7NJL3

I know, I know, but there is no one on the MB forum.

They are both around $57. I think the 7NJL3 is a single channel DDR, and the M7NCD is a dual channel. While not a hardcore overclocker, I do like to experiment.

It is for an extra gaming machine that will get 2400+/512 DDR2700 Hyper X/SB Live/80 GB Seagate/9500PRO

Has anyone had any experience with the Biostar M7NCD PRO

I do not have any experience with that specific Biostar mobo, but I have had the unfortunate pleasure of owning two previous Biostars, and man, that was the worst mistake(s) I have ever made.

They are not oc friendly, as you have already pointed out, their support sucks (trying calling the US division in Cali), their bios updates have occassionaly caused problems, and their constantly performing less than other mobos in their chipsets. The two I had were for my kid's rig, and the only reason I thought to get a 2nd one was because it was so damn cheap.

I would suggest you look into a dual channel Abit. Even though it would be a little more green, it would suit you better if your intending to use it as a gaming rig!

I was tempted by the Biostar, too. I wound up jumping on a Shuttle AN35N Ultra 400 from newegg for $66 shipped. They must have been fairly popular as they are up to $77 now. While it is a "no frills" board, I have been very happy with the Shuttle. The onboard sound is a basic Realtek 5.1 channel, it works fine and I had no problem getting the onboard LAN working. It was a little picky about the cheap PNY ram I tried, but once I upgraded the power supply and switched to Kingston PC-2700 Valueram, it has been fast and stable. So if you want a cheap Nforce 2 400 board, I can say the Shuttle AN35N is certainly a viable option. Running my XP1700+ at 1.84 Ghz (11x166), going to flash the BIOS and see if I can get it to run stable at 12x166.

Your's is the second remark I receive for the shuttle. I will go ahead and order it instead of the two previously mentioned. Thanks
