Looking around for information on whether the M780G mobile chipset is SATA 1.0 or 2.0 supportive; there's no technical spec sheet on AMD's website I could find.

Researching the purchase of a SATA 2.0 SSD to replace the factory 5.4k drive. Even if I'm limited to SATA 1.0 transfer rates, is upgrading to a 2.0 SSD on a 1.0 bus still viable and worth the additional speed?

I imagine the mobo chipset is SATA-II so I wouldn't sweat the details.

A SSD would be a major leap over a 5400-rpm mechanical drive. Be certain to purchase a Gen2 SSD with an Indilinx controller and are using Vista/Win7 to enable TRIM.
