M6805 laptop combo drive problem

Hey,
I recently reformatted my emachines m6805 and installed a fresh copy of XP. Everything was working fine until I tried to install Nero on it. Now my laptop CD-RW/DVD drivers have gone corrupt. I've tried uninstalling and reinstalling the drivers but they give me the same error message: "Windows cannot start this hardware device because its configuration information (in the registry) is incomplete or damaged. (Code 19)". I tried uninstalling nero and reinstalling but it doesn't work. I can't slip in any CD's cause it just doesn't detect the drive.... DAMN NERO. I can't find the drivers anywhere online. Please help. The drive is a liteon LSC-24082K combo drive.

The only thing I could think of is to reformat, or just use the restore discs and go from there. I'd try a repair install of XP and if that doesn't help, hose the whole thing and start from scratch. I didn't format mine just to stay away from headaches like this.

EDIT: Check this thread out. Completely dedicated to the M6805\6807.
