I remember C&D did a cheap speed comparo between 5 cars and the RSX won only because it had the nicest interior but was the slowest car in every category.

 The RSX was anything but fast....just like the new Civic Si, but at least the Si can handle.

I'm not digging the GT-R. With it I don't see "class", I see a very angular looking ricemobile that will be owned mostly by young Asian guys.

ricemobile? So it's the Japanese automakers you don't like.

This generalization is not necessarily true. I liked the G37S and the Lexus IS350 when I test drove them; I just liked the 335i better.

Well, if that's true, then he can go suck each one of my M3's tailpipes for all I care.

He's currently sucking all of mine. I'll send him round when he's done.

Who remembers when C&D (I think it was C&D) put the E46 ahead of the C5 Z06 in a PERFORMANCE comparison even though it lost to the Z06 in every single performance category.

I've heard people are canceling their subscriptions because of this lol.

I was car shopping around the time that report came out. I bought the RSX because overall it was the nicer car to live with in the long term. In real world driving, my RSX's performance more than meets my needs.

All the GT-R comparison tests I have read have shown that it is a great car.

lol, I'd rather have an E46 M3 for sure, but there's NO denying that it can't stand up to the brute force and surprising handling limits of the C5 Z06.

Stupid C&D.

But does the Z06 have the "Gotsta Have It Factor?" that has gotta be the dumbest gimmick of any car publication 🙂
It's like yeah, the other car did better in every test, but I just gotsta have me that BMW 🙂

The stupidest thing I've yet seen from them might blow your mind.

They have a fairly recent article, which I read because I thought it was timely, and I was in the process of choosing an economy car myself. As noted before, I chose the refresh '08 Focus, and it's been an excellent little vehicle so far.

Anyway, the article is here :

http://www.caranddriver.com/re...y_cars_comparison_test

Where to begin with how retarded this is. Well, for starters, the name of the article is rather clumsily '2009 Toyota Corolla vs. Ford Focus, VW Rabbit, Subaru Impreza, and Four More Economy Cars'. Excuse me, 'Four More Economy Cars'??? How lazy is that to not even finish the description. They should have named each car, or just named it '8 new economy cars'.

But wait, it gets better.

The subtext, I shit you not, is 'Little Feet: Eight ways to shrink your carbon footprint: looking for the 35-mpg car.' Okay, I can deal with that, 35mpg is a decent number to shoot for, right?

Well, it then starts the review in earnest. Starting out in 8th place is the Ford Focus. They bitch about a bunch of subjective styling areas, taking several paragraphs to complain about the 'Vodka Bar' console, a lone paragraph to complain about the option of interior lighting, and a multitude of fairly useless info. The facts that the Focus was near the top in fuel economy (1mpg off of the best), quietest interior, best lane change/slalom, has a smooth ride, etc, were either glossed over or maybe given a sentence fragment to mention in passing, if not omitted altogether. Also ignored is the great incentives and so forth that bring the already reasonable price down even further.

So, we move on, and read through more reviews, the majority of which are not quite as subjective and worthless as their hit-piece on the Focus, but we get to the best part.

For 1st place, in the 'Economy Cars, looking for the 35mpg car' shootout, they award to the VW Rabbit S! Which happens to be : The most expensive car, and one that got 22, yes, you read that right, TWENTY-TWO MPG!! WTF are these crackheads thinking!?!?

That was about the worst article I've ever read in an auto magazine. Ever.

Didn't like it at all when the concepts were first released a year or so ago. It's grown on me.

As for "class", I don't think it's really meant to embody that first. It was kept a Nissan I think for its heritage. You can maybe spend much more for a GTB Fiorano and get "class". But to get that performance at a $70k price point... wow.

Wonder how much I can get one used for this time next year?
