M2V videos not playing right

I have some some music videos in M2V format....since I reloaded my system with Windows 2000 they are playing, but are squished to about half their regular size...everything is tall and skinny. I've installed all of the codecs I can find....am I doing something wrong? Any links to a new codec for these would be appreciated.
