.m2v or .mpg file to animated gif?

is it possible to do this? i understand i could just print screen to capture (unfortunately it doesn't work with wmp) and just turn thsoe individual captures into an animated gif. is there some other easier way to do this, for say...2-4 seconds or less of an animated gif?

I'm sure there's some software somewhere that will do it... but why would you want to? You're going to lose quality and end up w/ a much larger file.

well, i'll probably shrink it. mainly for web use, and i heard a certain part of the aim logon screen can be animated, so i'll want to use a short clip of an mpg file. also, i'd love to have this for my sanyo 4900 as a screensaver, (when they find out how to turn gif into gcd files)
