Tire failure pitched him into the armco at about 200mph. He was uninjured, but needed a few moments on the grass to recover.

It (crashing, that is) didn't go as well for Senna, or Gilles Villeneuve, though.

The Ferrari is on Bridgestones actually... but yeah Michelin has been given a beatdown this whole season by Ferrari/Bridgestone. :D

Funny thing is supposedly, after the crash Bridgestone engineers were investigating that portion of the track to see if any debris caused the puncture, but there were Michelin people there too picking up pieces of the tires and wouldn't give it back when Bridgestone asked for it... words were exchanged to say the least. lol. The drama.

hehe....the tire wars are responsible for the reduction in lap times these days.

btw, where do you get your F1 news from? I use www.itv-f1.com and www.f1-live.net.

Me no get.

They have testing days in F1, where they test new parts & tires on the car for the upcoming race.

In this case, the tire blew at 200+mph as Schumacher was testing the car at Monza (race track in Italy; Ferrari's homeground).

Test days are valuable, because the teams collect important data on how the car behaves with these changes. Remember, no car is the same at every track, there are always minute to major changes applied to the car.

For instance, McLaren is designing some one-off aero parts just for this upcoming race track, to suit its high speed corners and keep less drag.

What's not to get? They were doing testing for Monza next weekend, and he crashed.

Glad to hear he's okay--wouldn't be a great year for the Schumacher family if both brothers shunted out of the season (at least Michael's got the drivers' championship all sewn up :))

pshaww..just catch the 9PM replay on SpeedTV.

Only time I woke up early for F1 was at Spa's race because I don't get SpeedTV at my current location, so I followed the race in realtime online at Formula1.com.

Otherwise when I usually watch it at home, I watch it at 9PM.

Nah if i wait until 9 id eventually find out the results from somewhere.

But thanks to Ferrari for almost winning everything this year I can go back to sleep when the race is boring knowing that a red car will win anyway. :D

My bad. Maybe Bridgestone secretely cloned a Michelin tire? That would be why the Michelin guys were trying to swipe some of the debris, "That tire sucks just like ours, let's see if they are stealing from us!" :D
