M$ says there are Windows update problems

Too late for me, all "patched" already. So far no issues, so I'll leave them installed - the uninstall procedure looks like a real pain in the you know where.

Ha! This is why I always wait a bit before any kind of patches. "But security!!!" Yeah there will be more exploits in a few days from now anyway. 😛

I (probably) have all the offending updates installed and haven't had any trouble. I guess my system doesn't have a configuration that triggers it.

I can't seem to find out what exactly is the trigger, or is the point that we're not sure and that these updates just happen to cause it? According to the workaround it looks like it may have something to do with the fonts.

it was bound to happen sooner or later, so many different configurations out there. Obviously did not happen on Microsoft's configurations, but it happens often enough..

I don't seem to have a problem with the patches yet.

Edit:
I spoke too soon. I'm having some strange issues, not the common bsod during bootup so I didn't think it was related to the update mess. I scanned the pc with a rescue cd (nothing found) and uninstalled the problem patches.

Urgh I've been dealing with this at work all week. Crash comes from having a .otf font installed outside the default windows directory. (Not in C:\Windows\Fonts). Unfortunately we have artists on staff and our font client installs fonts to %AppData% :awe:

You can't even boot into safe mode when the crash is occurring. Had to boot to a recovery environment, remove all the offending fonts, uninstall type client. Reboot into Windows, uninstall offending update, reinstall type client etc.

Huge pain.
