M$ has returned the intellimouse to it's original 3.0 form!

looks like it's back to the old one, which I like. no more of that damn tilt wheel...that was smooth for the 1st week, after that, it started sticking

HELLS YEAH!!!!!!!!!!!!!

ROFL. They finally realized that the IntelliMouse Explorer 3.0 which can sell for up to $100 on eBay.com was actually a profitible item and that their newest offering, the Laser 6000 was a POS. Damn. I'm so happy they decided to retro this mouse. Now prices will go back to normal. Now I will have to stock up heavily on this item since it will probably be discontinued within a year due to MS being idiots.

Scroll Wheel with Detents
A specially designed scroll wheel with detents enables more accurate scrolling through documents, spreadsheets, or video games.

Yes, it does have the dented scroll wheel, so no more any of that smooth stuff!

The 3.0 is nice, indeed. MS makes the best mice, IMO.

BUT...for those of us with bigger hands, we need a physically bigger mouse. I have a Wireless IntelliMouse Explorer 2.0 (came with the Wireless Desktop Elite Keyboard) and I love it.

The mouse is "fat" and occupies more of the hand. My fingertips actually rest on the left/right buttons, instead hanging 1" or more OVER the buttons like they do with the 3.0 and like-sized mice.

4.0 was just a piece of crap! :|

Agreed.

The Intellimouse 3.0 is a timeless mouse and I can't wait to upgrade mine to this new version. I've purchased more expensive mouse over the years but none of them could live up to the intellimouse 3.0.

I loved my 3.0 until it suddenly died one day. I'd only had it for about 6 months and it stopped working for no reason. I went out and bought a 4.0 and hated it so I returned it immediately. I'm glad they returned to the 3.0.

I like a small mouse - like Microsoft's Wireless Optical for Notebooks. I only use a mouse for macro movements. Precision movements in graphics, etc., are done better for me by my Wacom stylus and pad.

We all have different druthers. With the old shaped mouse, then a separate product is needed for lefthanders. Good or bad?

Same here. I have the original IntelliMouse Explorer and it's the best. I have big hands, and the LARGE side buttons are just awesome. Combined with a large mouse size... there's just no better for me.

When it dies, it will bean extremely sad day for me.

Wow, I didn't realize this mouse was so popular. I've used mine for a few years now. I switched to a Logitech MX518 for a half a year because it was "the mouse to get", but I decided I really didn't like it. Went back to my Explorer, and fell in love.

Nice... I've never really liked the 4.0 explorer, the only reason why I have the explorer 4.0 is because microsoft sent it to me for free, what I should have done is ebayed it, but the reason I got the mouse in the first place was cause my 3.0 mouse has problems so... I'm used to the 4.0 mouse now but I definately could go for that 3.0 mouse again.

Heh, i'm still using the old silver intellieye explorer 3.0...but that black is pretty sexy.

I got a silver 3.0 sitting in a box somewhere. I mihgt have to pull it out and try it.

still using my original mx500 i bought years and years ago when it just came out

i didnt even mind paying $50 +tax for it because it served me so well.

I tried that logitech cordless desktop MX wireless mouse/keyboard combo about a year ago. The mouse was at least 5 times as heavy as my beloved Intellimouse Optical, and the mouse and keyboard each had a very slight but maddening delay.

Good ole beige compaq keyboard and intellimouse optical for me 🙂
