M-Audio X PreSonus

Greetings

I have an M-Audio Fast Track Pro, but am sick and tired of waiting for their XP64 drivers. Really, they are never gonna do it.

I noticed that PreSonus has very similar equipment, like the Audiobox and the Firebox. And according to their website, they do have XP64 drivers.

But before I sell my M-Audio and try to get a PreSonus, I must ask: besides the driver thing, is PreSonus equipment better than M-Audio's in general terms? Am I doing a good deal in changing it, or is it better to just keep my Fast Track Pro and the annoying dual-boot (xp32 and xp64) system I'm currently using?

Any tip is greatly appreciated

Thanks a lot

Ok, I just realized that the title of the thread is kinda funny. After all, neither M-Audio or Presonus can give me the best home studio.

So, let's make it better:

Which one, on a price range until about $350, would be the best option? To keep Fast Track Pro with a dual boot, the Presonus Firebox, or something like Edirol (nice drivers, as it seems) or the small MOTU?

Any tip (really, any tip) is greatly appreciated. I haven't tried any, except my own.

Thanks!!

I usually recommend this to people looking for home studio recording. It is good hardware, has x64 drivers , and also includes lots of good software.
It is a bit more than you wanted to spend, but the company below will break the purchase into 90 days same as cash with no financing to do, just pay with a credit/debit card. Used them for years, always good service.

Hey, thanks a lot, I didn't know that one.

I wonder why this one comes with a PCI card as well, and most other boxes don't. Does it mean the pci card gets most of the processing load and so this E-MU solution would be the one that demands less computer resources?

That thing really looks interesting. I`ll look closer.

Yeah the card has an onboard DSP that handles a lot of the effects in hardware so it uses less pc resources.

Hardware-accelerated effects, over 600 standalone and E-MU Power FX VST plug-in effects with no CPU overhead
