M-Audio Revolution 7.1 lags in Return to Castle Wolfenstein

I shoot my gun and I hear the sound like a second later. it doesn't happen to all my other games or applicaiton, just Wolfenstein. why?

not to try to come off as a jerk but you tell me? does it do it when you play other games? if RTCW is the ONLY game you have then I don't know..
