M-audio revolution 7.1 in Win 2k

Just went from xp to 2000, and the revolution 7.1 just sounds like crap. It sounds like a REALLY bad onboard sound card, or a poorly created mp3, with kind of a "shimmering" quality to the sound, with practicly no treble or bass. It sounded great in xp, but I don't wanna go back if I ain't gotta, I like 2000 better. I've tried all the drivers I could get my hands on, (old and new), and adjusted every setting I could find, with no sucess....HELP!!!

What player are you using to playback those sounds?

I'm using winamp 5, also forgot to put that I get NO sound in doom 3.....

Are you using any type of 3rd party plugins for WinAmp i.e. MAD, ASIO, etc. & have you tested your sound card under DirectX diagnostic?
